AMMAN- October 28, 2015- The Jordanian capital, Amman witnessed an exceptional evening orchestrated by the Jordanian National Orchestra Association (JOrchestra) in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Amman to mark the Italian Language and Culture Week in the World under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic and Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein the Honorary President of JOrchestra and HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of JOrchestra.
HRH Princess Wijdan Al-Hashemi deputized for Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein in an event held at Al Hussein Cultural Center at Ras Al Ain and attended by His Royal Highness Prince Raad bin Zeid and HE Mr. Giovanni Brauzzi, the Italian Ambassador in Amman and a host of ambassadors and members of the Parliament as well as officials in addition to more than 1000 fans of classical music, Italian culture and the work of the famous violinist and conductor Domenico Nordio.
The Italian Ambassador Brauzzi addressed the crowd thanking Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein and HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for organizing this unique event, which represents one of the various activities that signals genuine concern and efforts undertaken to spread the Italian culture and language in Jordan
On his part, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh conveyed his gratitude to everyone and on top to Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein who gave him the honor to chair the Board of Trustees of the Orchestra Association, and to their Royalties and ambassadors attending this special ceremony, and welcomed the Italian Ambassador and all members of the Italian community in the Kingdom, pointing out that the relationship between Jordan and Italy is distinctive and covers multiple areas.
JOrchestra performed great classical pieces including Antonio Vivaldi‘s "The Four Seasons“, and “Beethoven's Symphony N.5”. Maestro Nordio is considered one of Italy’s best musicians of our time: he conducted several concerts in the most prestigious halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Salle Pleyel hall in Paris, Scala theater in Milan, the Barbican center in London, and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo with leading orchestras, including the London Symphony, the French Orchestra, the National Academy of di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Orchestra Nazionale della RAI, Orchestra Nazionale della Romande, and Orchestra Borusan in Istanbul, as well as the Orchestra of Enescu.
During the ceremony a brief video presentation entitled "Music Speaks Italian" was displayed and awards of "Italy in Jordan” contest were also distributed. The contest for the best picture and best video was launched by the Italian Embassy in Amman, in cooperation with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, the Royal Film Commission and the Jordan Photographic Society. Sana Banawi received the best picture award, while the Best Video award was presented to Moutaz Inaim in the first position and to Yazan Jubair in the second position.
It is noteworthy to mention that the Board of Trustees of the Orchestra was recently formed under the honorary patronage of Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein; the Board included ambassadors of countries with a great heritage of classical music so as to enrich the orchestra with their artistic guidance and technical cooperation with their countries and included also a number of Jordanian dignitaries supporting creativity.
