Abu Ghazaleh: “The group will be transformed within a year into a smart based organization in its internal and external activities”
MANAMA------- October22, 2015------HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, in his capacity as the Chair of the UN for Information Technology and Smart Sustainable Development, congratulated His Royal Highness, Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, for receiving the Award for Sustainable Development in ICT of the International Telecommunication Union.
This took place at the opening of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org)’s annual meeting under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council of Bahrain, held at the international headquarters of the Organization in the Bahraini capital of Manama, with the attendance of key speaker HE Mr. Hameed Yousef Rahmeh, assistant under-secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and TAG-Org’s representatives worldwide.
The meeting was held this year under the title “Reform, Development and Capability Building” and with the participation of representatives from embassies and the Shura Council, in addition to representatives from various companies in the Kingdom of Bahrain, together with more than 100 executive directors, department managers, and professionals from various fields from the offices of TAG-Org from all around the world.
His Excellency the Chairman of the Shura Council, stressed that his country and all other Arab countries are proud of this successful organization, since it proved to all Arabs, from its inception and from what it had achieved, that nothing is impossible, pointing out to the fact that the vision of Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh is considered a model of a clear vision for a business leader, and highlighting the fact that the Kingdom of Bahrain; its leadership, government and organizations, continuously provide support for this group.
He also expressed his gratitude for being invited to patronize the gathering, calling for the continuation of the Organization’s accomplishments and successes.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed on the fact that TAG-Org was launched more than half a century ago from Bahrain and Kuwait, “and now it has spread across the world with 80 offices, making it the world’s premier in the area of Intellectual Property protection, thanks to the leadership of this country,” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said.
He deeply thanked His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Saleh, stressing that he was one of the group’s supporters over the years. He also thanked His Excellency Mr. Hameed Rahmeh, who has always been a supporter of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University in Manama, since it was merely an idea.
He noted that this year’s general meeting came in order to discuss the future of the group, since its mission was from the beginning to build capabilities to serve the economy, “and that’s why we proceeded in the field of professional services, education and capacity building,” he said.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh added that due to the accelerated technological advancements, and the predictions of developments that would reach to the merge between man and machine by 2050, the group would transform within one year into a smart organization in its internal and external transactions, since its main role was to serve the community and provide various professional services. He highlighted that “we believe that we have a big role, especially with the fact that many international organizations are looking forward to working with us.”
He expressed his satisfaction “especially with us achieving the accomplishment of leading more than 10 taskforces with different missions in the UN, in many fields that include education, accounting and intellectual property,” he said.
He underlined that the group had not reach success except through keeping pace with advancements, “in order to ensure continuity and maintain our leadership, our annual meeting comes this year in order to find any shortcomings in our work to solve them, in order to continue our progress with the same strength and determination.”
The key speaker at the opening session, Mr. Hameed Rahmeh, said that the Kingdom of Bahrain was continuously seeking to accomplish reform and sustainable development process, as the country’s history indicated that the Kingdom of Bahrain had always exercised many forms of economic, political, legislative, cultural and educational reforms, placing it in front of many of the world’s countries in that regard.
He added that the country’s strategy, after the accession of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa may God protect him, to the throne, had been enhanced through his declaration of a comprehensive reform initiative “2030 Plan”, which is characterized by its clarity and by the accuracy of its programs.
During the meeting, which lasted for two days in the Bahraini capital, participants discussed according to their professional specialty, plans for change and development.
In the meeting, work programs and expansion strategies in all areas were presented, in addition to emphasizing the importance of enhancing the process of qualifying professionals, each in his field of specialization.
